Álvaro Porras

Ciudad Real, Spain
1992

Álvaro Porras deploys his work through the permutation of symbolic and somatic codes, in line with certain experiential practices and emancipations of art in the urban context. With the intention of a historiographical story, his work goes in and out through painting and graphics as responses to different processes of writing and narration, in a movement towards conceptualisms of action and minimal intervention.

He is an artist and researcher, graduated in Fine Arts from the Faculty of Cuenca, UCLM, Master of Research in Artistic and Visual Practices at UCLM, Master in History of Contemporary Art and Visual Culture at the MNCARS and, PhD from the UPV. He has carried out projects in cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Bristol, Rome or New York, and also in other places such as Villanueva de los Infantes, La Carrotja, Reinosa or Argamasilla de Alba. He has carried out curatorial work and story construction for independent spaces such as Espacio Blanco Blanco or Internet Moon Gallery and has carried out education and mediation projects for institutions such as the Reina Sofía or the IVAM. He’s work has been exhibited at the IVAM.
