In June 2026, gallery Jorge López invited the artists represented by the gallery—Álvaro Porras, Alberto Feijóo, Pablo Bellot, Ana Ciscar, and Inma Femenía—to reflect on the question: what does it mean to start here, now, in Valencia, when the system does not yet recognize you and the market has not yet named you? They were asked to carry out an exercise in discovering other artists and to look at those generations of artists who follow behind them, who come after them, and who are producing work from the present.
The result of this accumulation of reflections was LAB_1 + 1 = T-S-H-Y-S (To See How You See), an initiative that moves from the gallery's artists toward the selection of, and mentorship of, those artists who precede them, many of them still in training or recently graduated from art school. It concludes with a joint exhibition that closes the season.
The proposal invites us to look without guarantees, accepting incompleteness and lack of closure as necessary conditions for the emergence of new practices. In that space of uncertainty lies the real possibility of a future artistic scene, still to be defined.
